I just wanted to post a very positive report on a Computer/Network specialist recommended to me by our very own member "Cable Guy" of ComClark. The specialist is Gerald Slide of Dr. PC.

I had a tricky network problem that my regular support guy had been unable to resolve. At John's recommendation, I contacted Gerald. He showed up the very next day and was able to immediately resolve the issue. Further, he went through the entire network and optimized everything!

He currently charges 1000 pesos for the initial visit and, in my opinion, is worth far more than what he charges. I have hired others in the past but no one with his level of technical expertise.

He also offers remote assistance services and has clients as far away as Australia and the USA.

So nice to have someone take the time to explain what is happening in real time as the job is being done. Gerald answered my questions as we went along with my laptop repairs, and even answered some questions totally unrelated to the project e.g. did you know the shield icon on some of the control panel items means it requires your permission to proceed with changes (that's what the prompt for the administrator is about). I was lucky enough to be in the same locality as Gerald and he made a house call for me. One would expect just a rush in rush out service but not with Gerald -he was with me for four hours and declined to charge me any more than his original quote even though he went above and beyond -crown lagers next time mate.

By the way, my laptop was infected with the "shield defender virus", a nasty little bugger that disallows you from using internal anti-viruses or from importing new virus crushers. Shield defender also gives you an option to send money to virus creator in the false hope the virus will be eradicated -yes i agree the creator should face some retribution come december 21 2012 - anyway we can only hope, eh... In my initial contact with Gerald he said (quote) " there hasn't been a virus i can't remove" I'm happy to report he wasn't bragging!

YES I TERMINATED HIS "SERVICES" P.D.Q, AND SUFFERED THE CONSEQUENCES. THE OLD MACHINE FREAKED ME OUT AS IT BROKE DOWN,THROUGH MY FAULT OR A CYBER MOLE WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY AND REGULARITY, A CONTINUATION OF "EXPERTS" CALLED ON TO FIX IT AT EVER INCREASING COSTS, MY DECREASING BANK ACCOUNT, AND MY SOARING BLOOD PRESSURE,,,,,,,,,,,,,
BUT HELL NOTHING IS HOPELESS. I WAS [THANK YOU LORD] PUT IN TOUCH WITH GERALD SLIDE – DR,P.C, HIMSELF…… I AM A MEMBER [NOT A FREQUENT ATTENDEE] OF THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF THE R,S.L. I HAD KNOWN GERALDS FATHER KEN SLIDE, BOTH HERE AND IN DARWIN FOR OVER 40 YEARS. GERALD CAME TO MY HOME ASKED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, SAT AT MY DESK, ASSESSED THE SITUATION SHOOK HIS HEAD IN BEWILDERMENT AND ASKED 'HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD THIS OUTFIT?'…. I TOLD HIM THE HISTORY OF IT…… ANOTHER SHAKE OF THE HEAD…."NO WONDER – ANTIQUATED PRE-WAR [BOER WAR BEAST] IT'S LIFE EXPECTANCY EXPIRED IN ITS COMPUTER CAFÉ DAYS. I CAN FIX ITS PROBLEMS…. BUT I DON'T GUARANTEE HOW LONG IT WILL LAST…..YOU WILL ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY OVER A PERIOD BY BUYING A NEW ONE, BOTH ON COMPUTER TECHNICIANS TIME AND ON MEDICATION FOR YOUR FRAYED NERVOUS SYSTEM".
I RELUCTANTLY AGREED, AND HE WENT ON LINE ON MY BY NOW WORKING COMPUTER, AND GOT PRICES FOR A NEW TOWER, [HARD DRIVE AND ALL BITS] KEYBOARD, SLIM LARGE MODERN SCREEN, MOUSE ETC. AND PRICE,,,,,I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO FIND THIS COST LITTLE MORE THAN I HAD PAID FOR THE HEAP OF "STEAM DRIVEN" HUNK OF JUNK I WAS CONSTANTLY HAVING REPAIRED…….GERALD WITH MY PERMISSION PROMPTLY BOUGHT AND INSTALLED THAT AFTERNOON THE ALL-NEW EQUIPMENT….. DrPC saved me heaps. - Graham Crispin

My Toshiba Laptop was getting slower and slower. It was freezing up or just shutting down, doing all sorts of weird things. I was thinking that because it is 5 years old it looks like i'll have to lash out for a new one as these problems were just old age. I have similar symptoms sometimes.

I had seen the DrPC ads in the Angeles City RSL newsletter so i thought i'd take up their 20% off promo and gave him a call. It was the best decision i've made for a long time. It was simple for Gerald to get into my computer and remotely repair it. It was so clogged up with junk and unwanted programs that it took 3 hours to clean out. He also got rid of programs that i'd bought to speed up, clean up etc etc which none of them worked. He also made adjustments to settings in my email and generally got everything working great. He told me that there is nothing wrong with my laptop or the operating system and there is now plenty of storage. It is now working as fast and smooth as it ever did. All this for just $40. I told a friend in Brisbane and he said he has just had the same problems fixed in his computer and it cost him $450.

The follow up emails have been great and I have and will continue to recommend DrPC to all of my family and friends.

Thank you Dr PC.All I had to do was call him and download Dr PC and this gave me a number and password which I passed onto him and he accessed my computer remotely.I could see what he was doing and talk to him.He upgraded my computer for me and now it works a lot better. He also followed up with emails to make sure that everything was working alright.I can highly recommend him as he has a lot of patience and is very helpful as I am not computer literate.It is good that you dont have to leave the computer in a workshop as you dont get to see what they do.

Dr.PC remote computer assistance is a life saver. Only yesterday, late in the afternoon, I had a problem with my e-mail system, I was stressed out big time, so I called Gerald from Dr.PC and he fixed it for me in no time.

Also I had another problem with my printer for 2 months, when I couldn't take the frustration anymore, I called Dr.PC and my problem was fixed there and then. Now I'm a happy office worker.
